Etymology

Libery Hall is Leya 13th AD iii, Le Leyebery 1303 FA, 1351Ct , Lye 1471 IpmR, Leyhbury (sic)al. Lyebery 1496 FF, Libury al. Libery 1713Recov . v. leah , burh (manorial) and infra 243.The older name of the manor was Stuterehela , Stuterehele , Sutreshele , Sutrehella (1086 DB). The name is identical with stuteres hyll (BCS 179, 905) in Hampshire. Middendorf (129) and Searle (s. n .) take the first element to be a personal name Stuthere , parallel to the Stutheard which we seem to have in stutardescumb (BCS 1009). Hence, 'Stuthere 's hill', v. hyll .
