Etymology

'Wafa 's valley,' v. denu and cf. Wavendon (PN Bk 39). The name Waua is found in DB, for Von Feilitzen (409) notes that the name Wana found in Ellis' index to DB and quoted by Searle should really have been transcribed as Waua . It is found in Kent (TRE) and is now so printed in the VCH (iii, 237 b).
