Hodsworth(Heddesworth, cultura 1360, Hoddysworth, Hoddilsworth 1540,Hoddisworthe 1575, an OE  pers.n. Hod(d) as in Hoddesdon(Hrt 228) or aderivative Hoddel which seems to appear in Hoddlesden(La 75), -el beingfrequently lost in such p.n. compounds as Beesmoor(26 supra), cf. YWvii, 94, Phonol. §47, v. worð'enclosure')
