Etymology

Little Dean Meend (lost), La Munede ('an assart at Parva Dene ') c. 1275For , the Mynde 1591Deed , Little Dean Meen 1770Comm .ME  *munede 'waste forest-land' (Welsh  mynydd ), cf. Mitcheldean Meend (218supra ). It was on the west side of the parish; a deed of 1591 (ex inf. Miss E. Scroggs) establishes its position as north of Mousell Barn (infra ) between Callamore and Littledean Hill.
