Goldwell Fm, Goldewelle 1327SR (p), Goldwell 1377Ass , 1777 M, the Golde well 1575TRMB . Probably, like Golborne (La 99) and OE  gold burnan BCS 1240 (Wo), 'stream or spring where marigolds grew', v. golde , wella , though the first el. in this and other Goldwells could be OE  gold 'gold', but the significance is uncertain here and in the local f.n. Goldcrofte (infra ).
