Etymology

Booking Hall is Bockinge 1543MinAcct , Bockyng in Mersey 1545 LP and was the home of John de Bockyng in 1327 (SR ).This was the estate given with Bocking infra 413 to Christchurch, Canterbury, by Ethelric and Leofwina (Dugd i, 97).“Being reckoned a member of Bocking maner, it hence took the name of Bocking-hall ” (M i, 428).
