Etymology

This is a difficult name, but the probabilities are that it is from OE  scyddinga-ho , 'hill of the shed-dwellers,' v. hoh . For scydd v. PN Sx 117–18, 132 s. nn. Limbo and Gunshot, and Puckshot (PN Sr 206).
