'The upper or higher manor', v. upp , uferra , burh (ME  bury), so named to distinguish it from Netherbury (lost) supra . This prebend in the cathedral of Salisbury was held by William de Len in c.1226 Sarum. The Latin affixes superior 'higher' and prima 'first' are also in contradistinction to those of Netherbury . A third prebend in this par. was 'Yetminster and Grimston', cf. prebendæ de Yatemenster et Grymston 1340 NI, v. Grimstone in Stratton par. 1 373, Hutch3 2 570, 4 446.
