The same pers.n. has been adduced for Gupworthy So (Guppewurþe 1155–8 (1334), Gopeworthy 1327) and Guphill D (Gopewell 1281), v. DEPN s.n. Gupworthy and PN D 336. For the probable use of the surname Gopeheye from this p.n. to form another p.n. in a manor also once held by the Fitz Payns, v. Gobson in Okeford Fitzpaine par. 3 185–6, cf. also Guppy's Fm in Whitchurch C. par. supra .
