Etymology

'The king's farm', v. cyning , tūn , one of 6 Do places so named. In 1212 Fees (92) it was held by John Russel of the king (ex tempore Willelmi Bastard '…per serianciam essendi marescallus buteilerie domini regis ), v. also Hutch3 2 189. Lutton in the 1321 form is Litton Ch. par. infra .
