This small par., originally a tithing in Cranborne hundred, is included in Pentridge par. supra by Boswell and Hutch3, although marked as a separate par. on 6″ (1902 ed.); it was finally joined to Pentridge par. in 1933 along with West Woodyates par. infra , q. v. for early forms and etymology of the name.
