Etymology

Putton and East Chickerell were in the liberty of Sutton Poyntz, v. note under Culliford Tree hundred supra . In 1933 parts of Chickerell were transferred to the borough of Weymouth, and parts of the pars, of Radipole, Upwey and Wyke Regis were added to Chickerell, for civil purposes (Kelly).
