Etymology

This name, which occurs also in Dawlish infra 493, suggests an OE  form sacumannes - tūn , sacumanna -tūn . No OE  word sacumann is known, though it is a conceivable name for someone who engages in a lawsuit, cf. ON  saka -maðr , 'litigious person.'
