It must be identical with Chaffcombe (So), Caffecome 1086 DB, Chaffacomba t. John (1313) Ch, Chaffecumbe 1235 FF, Chefcumbe 1252, Chefcombe 1314 Ipm, and contain the same first element as Chafford Hundred (Ess), Cesfeworda , Ceffeorda 1086 DB, Ceaffeworda 1130 P. Professor Ekwall would take it to be a pers. name Ceaffa .
