Etymology

'Stream in the corner of land,' v. lacu and cf. Shute supra 184.There are two farms of this name in the parish, but, as pointed out by Blomé (94), the references are probably to the western one, which is on a stream on the western boundary of the parish. The other place is not near a stream and may be a more modern name.
