Etymology

The first element may be OE  trog , 'trough,' in some topographical sense. The place lies in a small semicircular hollow, v. cumb .Cf. Trafford (Ch), Trosford DB, Trochford c. 1100, Trocford c. 1190, Trohford , Trowefordia late 13th St Werburgh Cartulary.
