Etymology

Across the county boundary in Cornwall is West Youlstone, Yulkesdon 1302Ass , ʒolkesdone 1310 Exon (p), Yolkesdon 1476FF . The first element here is probably a late OE or early ME  pers. name Geoloc , 'little yellow one.' Hence, 'Geoloc 's dun.'
