This is the word plud (d ), 'pool, puddle, swampy surface of a field,' v. NED and EDD s. v. and cf. also Pludd supra 48, Pludd park 1561Rental (Whitchurch), and the surname atte Plodde in a Gloucestershire SR of 1327.
