Etymology

Either 'Lēofwine 's torr,' with absence of genitival s , or as suggested by Professor Ekwall, Lēofwynn 's, a feminine pers. name with OE  genitive singular Lēofwynne , cf. Luton supra 488. John de Arundel held one part of the manor in 1242 (Fees 795).
