'Wīglāf's farm', from the OE  pers.n. Wīglāf and tūn, cf. Willaston 327infra . The place adjoins Nantwich, Wisterson and Wistaston 30, 42, 45supra . For the location -iuxta Alvandeston (Alvaston 28supra ) v. 43supra . The forms of this p.n. have often been confused with those of Wistaston and Wisterson , cf. Orm2 iii487.
