Etymology
The ecclesiastical parish of Backford contained the townships 1. Caughall (in Broxton Hundred, 140supra ), 2. Backford, 3. Chorlton, 4. Lea (now a c.p. including part of Mollington), 5. Great Mollington (now included in Mollington c.p. with Little Mollington 171supra ). The township of Moston, now in St Mary on the Hill parish, Broxton Hundred, was originally in Backford Parish, Wirral Hundred, v. 141supra .
