Etymology

OE  Hǣdan -hām , 'Hæda's homestead.' Cf. Haddenham (C), Hædanham (BCS 1268), Hadreham DB. The name Hæda is not actually on record but Hædda is (Redin 66). A similar variation between forms with and without gemination is found in Had (d )a (ib.). The r for n of some of the early forms is a common AN error. v. IPN 106–7.
