Sanden (not on map, but Sanden Fee is mentioned in Kelly's Directory of 1911 as the name of a tithing of Hungerford), Sandun 12th AD, Sandon '1220, 1242–3 Fees, Sandon 1275–6 RH, 1297–8 Ipm, 1331, 1355 AD, Saundone 1294 Ipm, Saundon 1316 FA, Sandone 1325 InqMisc, 1428 FA, (fee called ) Sandonysfe 1449 Fine, 'sandy hill', v. sand , dūn ; a fairly common name. Sanden Fee has AN  fee 'estate' added to the p.n. Cf. also Sandonesdown 1485 AD, Sanden Downe 1587RentSur , Sandon Downe 1591DL .
